Understanding New York Human Rights Law
NYHRL is state law that has been enacted to protect people from discrimination. These set of laws have made it illegal to discriminate against someone on the basis of age, race, creed, color, country of origin, sexual orientation, military status, gender, marital status or disability. Originally passed in 1945 as the Law Against Discrimination, the NYHRL was the first of its kind in the United States.
